Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) Publications

The Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) Publications is a non-profit, non-partisan network of nearly 600 of the world's top academic economists. CEPR focuses on frontier research in areas such as international macroeconomics, trade and finance, industrial organization, labour, transition and public economics - research is also conducted in to institutions and economic performance.

CEPR's Discussion Papers offer timely access to those researches, much of which will go on to be published in the leading economics journals. Discussion papers are published weekly, and over 3,000 Discussion Papers in seven programme areas can be accessed online - an archive dating back to January 1999

EBSCO (Academic Search Premier; Business Source Premier; EconLit, and etc.)

Academic Search Premier contains indexing and abstracts for more than 8,300 journals, with full text for more than 4,800 of those titles. PDF backfiles to 1865 or further are available for well over one hundred journals, and searchable cited references are provided for more than 1,000 titles. Academic Search Premier contains unmatched full text coverage in biology, chemistry, engineering, physics, psychology, religion & theology, etc. Title List

Business Source Premier contains 9,000 full text scholarly journals and business periodicals covering management, economics, finance, accounting, etc. Country economic reports from the EIU, DRI-WEFA, ICON Group and CountryWatch are available as well. Title List

JSTOR (Arts and Science I, II, IV, VII; Business I, II; Mathematics and Statistics)

JSTOR is an ARCHIVED online journals database which provides access to scholarly journals as widely as possible.

Arts & Sciences I: The Collection includes many of the core research and society published journals in economics, history, political science, and sociology, as well as in other key fields in the humanities and social sciences. This collection also includes a selection of titles in the more science-oriented fields of ecology, mathematics, and statistics.

Arts & Sciences II : The Collection adds depth to many disciplines introduced in Arts & Sciences I, such as economics, history, and Asian studies. Arts & Sciences II also offers core journals in several new disciplines, such as archaeology, classics, and African, Latin American, Middle Eastern, and Slavic studies.

Arts & Sciences IV: The Arts & Sciences IV Collection contains over one hundred titles. Law, psychology, and public policy and administration are the new areas introduced with this collection. The collection also includes business and education titles.

Arts & Sciences VII: The Arts & Sciences VII is intended to offer participants a method to seamlessly add journals related to the core Arts & Sciences I, II, III, and IV Collections. For the Arts & Sciences Complement, journals may be focused in any of the more than thirty arts, humanities, and social sciences disciplines covered by JSTOR. Our aim is to introduce important titles that we were unable to include in earlier collections and to capture journals that cross discipline boundaries. A minimum of 150 titles will be included by the end of 2008.

Business : The collection brings core titles in economics and finance, including many publications from the leading scholarly societies, with a range of critical research journals in accounting, labor relations, marketing, management, operations research, and risk assessment.

Business II : The Collection is especially the number of core international business titles in this collection. Business II also includes a number of journals that explore the intersections between economics and law, policy, and psychology. 

Mathematics & Statistics : The Collection unites titles in the mathematical and statistical sciences from existing JSTOR collections.

National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) Publications

The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), founded in 1920, is a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan research organization dedicated to promoting a greater understanding of how the economy works. You can access all current papers plus an archive of papers going back to November, 1994. Provides historical financial, statistical, and marketing information. Provides more than 300 annual and 100 quarterly Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Statement of Cash Flows, and supplemental data items on more than 7500 publicly held companies. Compustat files also contain information on aggregates, industry segments, banks, market prices, dividends, and earnings. IMF: Balance of Payments Statistics (BOPS)

BALANCE OF PAYMENTS STATISTICS is one of the International Monetary Fund's principal statistical publications, which has become available on the internet recently. BOPS contains balance of payments and international investment position data of individual countries, regional and world totals for major components of the balance of payments, and descriptions of methodologies compilation practices, and data sources used by selected reporting countries.

IMF: Direction of Trade Statistics (DOTS)

DIRECTION OF TRADE STATISTICS is one of the International Monetary Fund's principal statistical publications, which has become available on the internet recently. You can browse data on the country and area distribution of countries' exports and imports, select series of interest, display and save the selected series in spreadsheet from with this database. Data are available for approx. 180 countries, some are from 1948 onwards.

IMF: Government Finance Statistics (GFS)

GOVERNMENT FINANCE STATISTICS is statistical data on government financial operations for 130  IMF member countries. Detailed annual data are presented on revenue, expenditure, and financing transactions. All data conform to standards set forth in Government Financial Statistics Manual 2001 and are comparable from country to country. It provides data on budgetary operations, extra budgetary operations, social security transactions, and consolidated financial operations of central governments. When available, data are also presented for state and local government units.

IMF: International Financial Statistics (IFS)

INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL STATISTICS is the International Monetary Fund's principal statistical publication and has become available on the internet since June 1991. IFS covers data of approximately 26,000 economic concepts which show major economic aggregates used in the analysis of economic developments and includes data on: balance of payments, banking and financial systems, employment, exchange rates, fund position, government finance, interest rates, international liquidity and banking, national accounts, population, prices, production, and trade.

Nikkei Net Interactive (Nikkei.com)

Nikkei Net Interactive (Nikkei.com) is an English language online news service by Nihon Keizai Shimbun. It provides access the top economic and political stories that appear in the three Japanese language newspapers: The Nihon Keizai Shimbun, The Nikkei Financial Daily, The Nikkei Industrial Daily. The Market Japan section of NNI is a comprehensive database with a three-month archive of data and reports, and the Investors Watch section contains stock quotes, financial highlights, and corporate profiles on over 3,300 listed and OTC companies in Japan. Additionally, The Nikkei Weekly (plus back issues) and The Japan Economic Almanac are available online.

RefWorks -- an online research management, writing and collaboration tool -- is designed to help researchers easily gather, manage, store and share all types of information, as well as generate citations and bibliographies.

  • Introducing RefWorks - A guide to getting starting with RefWorks at IUJ.

  • RefWorks Tutorial - Tutorials that demonstrate various features:

    Basic Tutorial - shows the basic features of RefWorks including creating your database, managing your reference and generating bibliographies.

    Advanced Tutorial - demonstrates different viewing, sorting and printing options as well as how to back up your database, use the output style review utility and my list features. Also covers how to import data from web pages and RSS feeds, editing multiple records and advanced searching options.

    RefShare Tutorial - demonstrates how to share a folder or database, as well as how to work within a shared folder or database.

  • Write-N-Cite

    Write-N-Cite is a utility that allows you to run an abbreviated version of RefWorks in your word processor. This version of RefWorks displays Author, Title, and Year Only, with a full view option available if needed.With Write-N-Cite, you can cite references in a manuscript with the click of a button. The abbreviated version can be set to Always on top so that it stays in place as you are typing your manuscript and generating your bibliography. The utility installs a Write-N-Cite button on your desktop as well as an Add-in to your Word toolbar (Windows users only) and a menu option in Word, under Tools for launching Write-N-Cite.

  • Importing From Online data Vendors

    RefWorks supports hundreds of databases provided by numerous data vendors. Import filter development is an ongoing process and new filters are being added continually. For a complete up-to-date list of import filters.

World Bank: Global Development Finance Online

GDF Online contains statistical data for the 138 countries that report public and publicly-guaranteed debt to the World Bank Debtor Reporting System. The database covers external debt stocks and flows, major economic aggregates, and key debt ratios as well as average terms of new commitments, currency composition of long-term debt, debt restructuring, and scheduled debt service projections. Data selection screens are intuitive and easy to use. Results can be scaled, indexed against a particular year, viewed by percentage change, and charted. Data can also be exported in standard formats like Excel.

World Bank: World Development Indicators Online

Through WDI Online, you have direct access to more than 550 development indicators, with time series for 207 countries and 18 country groups from 1960 to 2,000, where data are available. With WDI Online you can retrieve any of the indicators, choose several ways of displaying them.
