The International Development Program (IDP)
Fosters International Development Professionals
The IDP is designed for students who desire to contribute to improving the lives of the world's people, especially in developing countries, through the design and implementation of effective and sustainable development policies.
The IDP is designed not only for students who wish to pursue careers in the public sector, international aid agencies, or international organizations, but also for those who wish to work in consulting firms, research institutes, financial institutions, and other public sector companies.
Focus on both theoretical foundation and analytical skills
The IDP is intended to equip students with political, economic, and management skills, as well as historical and cultural perspectives, so that they may become specialists who understand and analyze these and other related issues in international relations.
Superior Placement Opportunities
Most IDP alumni work in important economic and public policy formulating agencies such as central banks, ministries of finance, ministries of trade, etc.. Some of them have joined major international development agencies such as UNDP, the World Bank and ADB. They have performed vital roles in formulating development polices and improving the welfare of the developing world.
Partnerships with International Organizations and Japanese Government Agencies
IDP is highly evaluated by international organizations and development assistance agencies. Because of this credibility, IDP is one of the host institutions for the following human resource development programs. These programs foster human resources in the 21st century who will contribute to the developing or transitional economy countries.
